What this site does
UV by Hour shows UV forecasts. There are no accounts and no sign-up.
Your location
The home page loads UV data by asking currentuvindex.com from your browser, so that service can see your IP address and the coordinates of the place being shown (a default place until you choose one). If you search for a place or use the “Use my location” button, your search text or coordinates are also sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service. Your browser only shares your precise location if you allow it. If you haven’t chosen a place, the site guesses a nearby city from which Cloudflare data center handled your request; that check happens between your browser and this site only. We don’t store these details on our own servers.
What stays in your browser
To be quick, the site saves your last chosen place and a short-lived copy of the UV data in your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device. You can clear it in your browser settings.
Hosting
This site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like most hosts, it may log technical details such as IP addresses when pages are requested.
Analytics and ads
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and how fast pages load. Cloudflare says this tool doesn’t use cookies or local storage to collect usage data and doesn’t fingerprint visitors.
This site doesn’t currently show ads. If that changes, we’ll update this page before it does.
