About the Pyramids of Giza

The Giza Plateau includes the three main pyramids and other monuments across a larger archaeological area. Seeing more than one viewpoint can make the outdoor part of the visit much longer than a single photograph suggests.

The chart is a forecast for the plateau around the Great Pyramid. It does not measure conditions inside a pyramid or the shade at a particular waiting point.

The route between viewpoints matters

Open-air stops and walks between monuments contribute to the time you spend in the sun. A vehicle journey or an indoor section may interrupt that exposure, but it does not describe the remainder of the day.

Do not judge UV by how tolerable the temperature feels. Cooler months, a breeze or a short stop can change your comfort without telling you the forecast reading.

Plan around the whole visit

Compare the hours you expect to be outside, including stops near the Sphinx and any return to viewpoints. The most useful starting time is one that fits both your itinerary and the day's curve.

Check the official monument information for access and tickets. A lower reading on the chart does not mean a site is open, uncrowded or free of other weather concerns.

Sun protection tips for Pyramids of Giza

  • Use a hat, UV-protective sunglasses and covering clothing for open-air parts of the plateau.
  • Bring sunscreen for exposed skin and follow its label, including reapplication instructions.
  • Plan breaks away from direct sun during a longer sightseeing day; do not rely on the shade of a monument being available along the whole route.

UV forecasts are model estimates for the area, not readings from the monument itself. Shade and your route change your actual exposure. This is general information about sun safety and isn’t medical advice. Last updated October 24, 2026.
