What to do today
About Table Mountain
Table Mountain makes it easy to spend a long time outside looking over Cape Town. A short viewpoint stop and a full walking route need different plans, but both can leave you in open sun. Take the time you expect to linger into account.
What the forecast covers
The forecast point is on the upper mountain near the cableway area. It is an estimate for the area, not a live instrument on the plateau. Shade and cloud along your route can differ from conditions at that point, and a city forecast is not a complete mountain forecast.
Planning your time on top
Use the daily curve to see where your visit falls in the protection window. Allow time for walking between viewpoints and for your return. If your plans change, look again at the hours you will actually spend outside rather than the time you first intended to arrive.
Changing mountain conditions
SANParks warns that weather changes rapidly and advises carrying waterproof clothing even in summer. Pack sun protection alongside those layers. For walking routes, follow its current route and safety guidance; the UV chart does not assess whether a route is suitable on the day.
Sun protection tips for Table Mountain
