What to do today
Viewpoints and walks around Uluṟu
A visit to Uluṟu may involve a short viewpoint stop, a guided walk or a longer route around the base. Those are different outdoor plans. Compare the forecast with the part of the day you expect to be outside, including time waiting for transport.
Sunrise is not the whole morning
If you stay after a sunrise view, look at how the forecast changes during the following hours. Cooler air before sunrise does not describe a later walk. This is an area estimate near Uluṟu, not a forecast for every part of the national park.
Follow park information as well as UV
A UV curve cannot establish that a walk is open or suitable in the day's heat. Check official park alerts, walking guidance and the local cultural information before choosing a route. Keep to permitted paths and follow restrictions at sensitive places.
Sun protection tips for Uluṟu
- Bring a hat, sunglasses and covering clothing for exposed stops and walks.
- Use sunscreen for exposed skin and follow the label.
- Check the whole forecast window and current park guidance rather than extending a walk simply because the morning began cool.
